FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING
January 7, 2010
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Pearson. Committee members Jenks and Turnbull and County Board Chairman Reichow were also present.
REPORT OF OFFICEHOLDERS
Sheriff Edwards noted the new x-ray machine at the east entrance, given to the County by the U.S. Attorney generals office. He is going to have a technician look at it and the Court Security officers need to be trained on it. One of the squad cars was wrecked a couple of weeks ago. He has been in touch with the insurance agent.
Supervisor of Assessments, Janice Hamberg reported that she held her annual Assessors meeting. The Board of Review also met. Her office is working on assessment changes and property splits. She told the committee about an email from the Department of Revenue regarding salary reimbursements for the Supervisor of Assessments and the States Attorneys. Because of the State’s budget problems these reimbursements will be less.
Treasurer Nancy Clayton gave the committee a spreadsheet of sales tax receipts. She reported on the auditors. The auditors have asked her not to close the books for FY 09 until February. They are looking into some changes that need to be made, like changing the interest earned from an accrued system to a cash basis. As of December 31st the County General balance was approximately $97,000. The annual report has been published.
County Board Chairman Reichow reported on the tentative date of February 4th for the AFSCME Union mediator. He talked about the Road and Bridge meeting and the Building and Grounds meetings yesterday.
County Clerk, Tina Conard, reported that her office is really busy working on the February 2nd election. The Election Office is now open for voting, with Grace Period Registration and Voting open until January 26th. Mrs. Conard explained about the new “under-vote” law.
The committee reviewed and paid bills on a motion by Mr. Jenks and seconded by Mr. Turnbull.
With no further business to come before the committee, the meeting adjourned on a motion by Mr. Jenks and seconded by Mr. Turnbull. | |
